Indonesia, Finland Agree to Advance Economic Cooperation

21 February 2024 13:15 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Ambassador to Finland Ratu Silvy Gayatri, and Finnish Minister of Economy Wille Rydman agreed to encourage economic cooperation between Indonesia and Finland, as conveyed during a follow-up meeting following the visit of a Finnish business delegation to Indonesia. The visit to Indonesia was also part of the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-Finland diplomatic relations.

As reported on the Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website, the Indonesian Ambassador also invited Minister Rydman to attend the Indonesia Finland Festival 2024 in Helsinki, June 15-16, 2024, an integrated promotional activity to be organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Helsinki.

Meanwhile, the business delegation's visit took place on January 29-31, 2024, and was considered one of the most productive working visits. During the visit, a Finnish business delegation consisting of 15 companies expressed interest in being involved in the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) as a smart city.

Finnish companies are bringing various technological solutions to IKN such as innovative 5G and 6G connectivity technologies from Nokia, key systems from Abloy, battery vehicle charging stations from Virta, and satellite technology from ICEYE for forest area monitoring.

Minister Rydman expressed support for opening access for Finnish private companies to increase their presence in Indonesia. The meeting between the Indonesian Ambassador and Minister Rydman was considered an essential step where economic cooperation between Indonesia and Finland is expected to further develop through closer collaboration.
