TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the General Elections Commission or KPU Hasyim Asy’ari explained on Monday the reason for the temporary suspension of the Recapitulation Information System or Sirekap. During the press conference in Jakarta, Hasyim explained that KPU halted the system for several sub-districts to synchronize data between the Sirekap and the C-forms uploaded by the voting organizing group or KPPS.
For sub-districts with synchronized data between Sirekap and the C-forms, the recapitulation of vote counting will immediately be resumed, Hasyim said. Hasyim also explained that during the plenary meeting of vote counting recapitulation at the sub-district level, the election officers will open the ballot boxes and take out the C-form results.
According to Hasyim, Sirekap will not be the sole referral of the voting results. Instead, Sirekap is used to reconcile the real data and the data uploaded onto the system. “If the uploaded data and the real data were unsynchronized, people would be quite confused,” he said.
To avoid those problems, especially on the sub-district level, Hasyim said that concluded recapitulation will be resumed with a plenary meeting.
For the voting results, Hasyim said, the data used is the recapitulation of vote counting in the form of the hard copy of C-forms. The forms are stored inside the ballot boxes, which must be taken out and read aloud during the plenary meeting.
