TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry spokesperson Adita Irawati spoke up about the reports of the Jakarta-Surabaya semi-high speed train being taken off of national strategic projects or PSN list.
“It must be noted that just because it’s taken off the PSN list it doesn’t mean the project is terminated,” Adita told Tempo on Tuesday, Feb 13. “The project is still included in the National Development Planning Agency’s development plan.”
Despite claiming that the project will not be halted and will be treated instead as a non-PSN project, Adita did not explain further the difference between the two.
Additionally, Adita mentioned that this project is currently in the pre-feasibility study stage by the Japanese side. She explained that the future of this project will be discussed with relevant ministries and agencies.
On the other hand, she said, the Jakarta-Surabaya High-Speed Train has been included in the PSN list. According to her, this project is different from the Jakarta-Surabaya Semi-High Speed Train.
“[Jakarta-Surabaya High-Speed Train] has operated in the Jakarta-Bandung side,” she said.
It was previously reported that the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto crossed off twelve projects from the national strategic projects, one of with the semi-high speed train.
According to the Assistant Deputy of the Development Acceleration and Utilization Suroto, the decision was a result of a prior evaluation between relevant ministries. These projects, he said, would not progress until the second semester of 2024, hence crossed off the list.
