TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - IKN Authority spokesperson Troy Pantouw announced that the next phase of groundbreaking in the Nusantara capital city (IKN) is slated for February 2024.
"It's not certain, especially with the holidays and the general elections," he said after a press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 30. "But if God is willing, [the groundbreaking] is slated for February 2024."
During the same occasion, IKN Authority Head Bambang Susantono said that phase five of the IKN project groundbreaking will be conducted in the upcoming one or two months. "We have conducted four phases of groundbreaking. It shows the local investors' confidence that is a good and profitable plan," he said.
If the investors are uncertain, they would not fund the IKN project in the first place, Bambang said. "This is not a foundation or charity," he added. "We are just trying to birdge and facilitate those participating [in IKN investment]."
Previously, Bambang mentioned on Friday, Jan. 26 that the next phase of groundbreaking will involve the Financial Services Authority and several banks.
One of the banks, Bambang explained, is PT Bank Mandiri or the Mandiri Bank. "[Bank Mandiri] will conduct groundbreaking in one or two months," he said. He also ensured that the office would be located within the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).
