TEMPO.CO, Jayapura - Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of state-owned energy giant Pertamina, has temporarily stopped distributing fuel to Intan Jaya, Central Papua. Edi Mangun, the Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Papua Maluku, explained that it was carried out due to security disturbances on January 19-23, 2024.
Edi mentioned that all flights to Intan Jaya Regency have been stopped, including those carrying Pertamina fuel.
“We are forced to stop distribution to the Intan Jaya gas station temporarily, this is related to safety and security aspects, as well as recommendations from security forces,” he said in Jayapura.
According to him, two distribution facilities in Intan Jaya Regency, particularly in Sugapa and Homeyo, were affected by the temporary suspension of fuel distribution. “The distribution is one by air transport from Jayapura,” he added.
Pertamina would only resume the fuel distribution when the situation is declared safe and Intan Jaya Airport is reopened. The fuel stock to be sent has been prepared and is ready at Sentani Airport in Jayapura Regency, he informed.
Edi also stated that Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Papua Maluku hoped that the situation would return to normal soon, and Pertamina would continue to coordinate with the security forces and the Intan Jaya Regency Government.
