TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will launch the Karisma Event Nusantara 2024 or KEN 2024. The priority tourism program is aimed at attracting both domestic and foreign tourists to visit Indonesian regions.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that the program will officially launch on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Sasono Langen Budoyo, TMII. The total number of events included in KEN 2024 is 110, consisting of 100 priority events and top 10 events.
“So if I want to pick 10 destinations to travel to in Indonesia, this is the event I can visit and 100 more events throughout the year,” he said in a press release received on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024.
Acting Deputy of Tourism Product and Event Organizer Ni Komang Ayu Astiti said that the 110 events included in KEN 2024 are spread across the country in hope of recovering national tourism and the creative economy.
“Thus, we are encouraging local governments to map their social media to maximize digital promotion for a wider reach. Thus, these events could become tourist attractions,” Komang said.
The head of the Local Event Promotion Working Group in the ministry Eni Komiarti revealed that KEN last year positively impacted tourism and the creative economy in Indonesia with around 7.4 million tourists, 11,000 MSMEs, 140,000 artists, and absorbing 36,000 manpower.
“KEN 2023 also involved 800 associations and communities, as well as contributed Rp199.3 billion for GDP and circulated Rp12.42 trillion,” Eni concluded.
