TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris revealed that the number of Covid-19 cases in the city surged from 100 to 300 as of December 2023, or surging by 200 percent. Idris immediately issued a circular to respond to the case spike.
"Particularly last week, the spike was very significant, from 100 to 300 cases. That's a lot," he said on Tuesday, January 2.
The mayor said that on average residents who are infected with Covid-19 are self-isolating or at their homes. "The symptoms are not as severe as before," Idris explained.
The mayor's office has issued procedures on maintaining health and implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle, which, if followed consciously by the public, the number of Covid-19 cases in the community will decline.
"For example, if you are sick, you are required to wear a mask, and if we apply this regional regulation, residents who don't (wear masks) could be given to sanctions," he said.
