TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2024 New Year's celebration on Sunday to the early hours of Monday left damaged parks around the HI Roundabout.
The unfortunate leftovers of the festivities become the homework of the Parks and City Forest Office of Jakarta.
"We are still repairing and tidying up the parks, especially regarding the roads and amenities," said the office head Bayu Meghantara on Tuesday as quoted by Antara.
According to Bayu, the office has been repairing the parks since Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in Thamrin and its surrounding areas. This repair project involves 50 joint personnel from the Parks and City Forest Office and the Central Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-Office.
Now, the team is conducting plant procurement. "We are targeting to finish [the repair] in two or three days. Happy New Year for us all, let's protect our nature together, and if God is willing, nature will protect us in turn," he said.
Many plants around the HI Roundabout were damaged after being stomped by people celebrating the New Year from Sunday evening, Dec. 31, 2023, to Monday morning, Jan. 1, 2024.
The Youth Night (Malam Muda Mudi) event was held along the MH Thamrin-Sudirman roads in celebration of the New Year and showcased musical performances, drone shows, a dancing fountain, and video mapping.
