TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta-Singapore and Jakarta-Denpasar routes in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport have been dubbed among 2023's busiest flight destinations in the world by the OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, a London-based intelligent travel agency.

According to OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, Jakarta-Singapore was placed 6th in the Top 10 Busiest Global International Flight Routes of 2023, while Jakarta-Denpasar was ranked 10th in the Top 10 Busiest Global Domestic Flight Routes of 2023.

Throughout 2023, OAG recorded 3.91 million seats for the Jakarta-Singapore route and 7.91 million seats for the Jakarta-Denpasar route.

According to Acting Executive Director of AP II Wendo Asrul Rose on Friday, flight traffic in AP II's airports including the Soekarno-Hatta Airport steadily rising post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Wendo believed this is attributable to a good collaboration between AP II and all stakeholders including airlines, AirNav Indonesia, ground handling, the Indonesian armed forces, the national police, immigration, customs, and the relevant ministries.

This collaborative effort paid off, making the Jakarta-Denpasar and Jakarta-Singapore routes among the busiest in the world. "It also marked Soekarno-Hatta Airport's ability to support the economy and tourism in Indonesia," he said.

The Jakarta-Denpasar and Jakarta Singapore routes are also the busiest during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. From December 18 to 21, 2023, the number of passengers for the Jakarta-Denpasar route reached 101,723 people while the Jakarta-Singapore route reached 60,181 passengers.

In December 2023, OAG also recorded Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the busiest in Southeast Asia with 3.45 million flight seats.

The Executive General Manager of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Dwi Ananda Wicaksana said that "[the airport] is quite busy at the end of the year to serve passengers' holiday trips. We will ensure that all airport facilities are ready to support and facilitate passengers during their time at the airport," he said.
