TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor resort police will ensure the tourist destination, Puncak, is sterile of any vehicles during New Year's Eve this year. This measure is to decrease traffic congestion and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
The vehicle sterilization would begin on Dec. 31, 2023, at 9 p.m. local time until Jan. 1, 2024, at 2 a.m. local time. Meanwhile, the Puncak route will be diverted from Dec. 31, 2023, at 6 p.m. local time to Jan. 1, 2024, at 6 a.m. local time.
"For those heading to Cianjur or Bandung are urged to use alternative routes. Apologies for the inconvenience," wrote @tmcpolresbogor on Instagram as quoted by Tempo today.
The alternative routes are Cibubur-Cianjur via Jonggol through the Cibubur-Cileungsi-Jonggol-Cariu-Cikalong-Cianjur routes and the Ciawi-Cianjur route via Sukabumi. This route include Ciawi-Cicurug-Cibadak-Sukabumi-Cianjur.
Earlier, the head of Greater Jakarta Land Transportation Traffic Management from the Transportation Ministry Dandun Prakosa mentioned that the Puncak route will also implement the odd-even traffic policy during Christmas and New Year holidays.
"It will begin operation starting D-1 [of national holiday] at 2 p.m. local time to 00:00 a.m. local time. It is as per Transportation Minister Regulation No. 84 of 2021," Dandun said during a media briefing on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.
Dadun's agency will also install a static Variable Message Sign (VMS) along the Ciawi-Puncak route to ensure the information is relayed to drivers about the traffic conditions along the affected routes.
