TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina, the Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation, formed a Christmas and New Year Task Force to ensure energy supplies availability from Dec. 15, 2023, to Jan. 7, 2024.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that the company is ready to serve the public during the Christmas and New Year holidays. "The task force is authorized in all lines of operations from the upstream, refinement, to the downstream," he said in a statement on Thursday, Dec. 14.
According to Fadjar, Pertamina will coordinate with the central and regional government, state-owned enterprises or SOEs, the military, and the national police to ensure energy distribution is smooth sailing.
"Pertamina is ready 24 hours to guarantee energy supplies and energy distribution with the support and cooperation from relevant institutions," he said.
From the upstream department, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and its subsidiaries control oil and gas production to remain within target. It resulted in 1,044 barrels of oil equivalent per day from 42 blocks.
PT Kilang Pertamina International is refining up to 1 million barrels of crude oil per day. Additionally, Fadjar said that Pertamina is ready to distribute the energy supplies by providing 329 units of vessels.
"From domestic and international porter of fuel oil, LPG, avtur, and crude oil operated by PT Pertamina International Shipping," he said.
At the national level, he said, the stocks from fuel oil, LPG, and avtur are safe for now. Pertamina also prepared the infrastructure, including 115 fuel oil terminals, 30 LPG terminals, more than 7,400 gas stations, 48,000 LPG outlets, and 71 airplane fuel-filling depots.
During the period of its duty, the Christmas and New Year Task Force has provided supporting energy supply services in potential routes, such as toll roads, tourist routes, and main roads. Those include stand-by gas stations, stand-by LPG outlets, stand-by Pertamina kiosks, 185 motorists, 202 pocket gas stations, and medical facilities in rest areas.
Through its gas subholding, Pertamina prepared the required gas supplies which have been estimated to reach 976 billion British thermal units per day during the Christmas and New Year period.
Pertamina also optimized its natural gas plant infrastructure and ensured that the electrical and new renewable energy supplies were sufficient during the year-end period.
