TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three popular news compiled by Tempo English today, Friday, Nov. 24, include a technical disruption delaying MRT Jakarta, the death of an isolated monkeypox patient at RSCM, and Israel bombing the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza hours before a truce.

1. Technical Disruption Delays MRT Jakarta This Morning

Mass Rapid Transit, or MRT Jakarta experienced a technical disruption in its operating system this morning, Thursday, Nov. 23, delaying several trips.

The Head of Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta Ahmad Pratomo stated that the disruption occurred at around 09:30 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time). "[We] detected a disruption in the system and the team inspected that it would affect the train's punctuality," Ahmad told Tempo.

Specifically, he conveyed that the disruption happened to the communication system. "For example, where the [train] should have stopped for 30 seconds at the platform, it instead stopped for a minute or so, meaning, there were at least two minutes delay if occurred in two different stations," he explained.

2. Patient's Death at RSCM Not Due to Monkeypox, Health Ministry Confirms

The Head of Epidemiologist Surveillance and Immunization Division of the Jakarta Health Office Ngabila Salma confirmed the death of one of the isolated monkeypox or mpox patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta on Thursday, Nov. 23.

"Yes, it was the same person that [Health Ministry] recorded with severe symptoms [of mpox] and was in a critical condition," Salma told Tempo today.

The death of the mpox patient was also confirmed by the Health Ministry. The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu stated that the patient was confirmed positive for mpox and had a history of being HIV-positive.

3. Israel Bombs Indonesian Hospital in Gaza Hours before Truce

The Israeli army bombed the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza on Thursday evening, November 23. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israel targeted the hospital's power generators, claiming that Hamas was hiding its command center in underground tunnels beneath the health facility.

 “The hospital was the target of heavy shooting aimed at power generators and most of the buildings,” ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra was quoted as saying by Anadolu.

The Israeli attack came just hours before the humanitarian truce with Hamas, which began Friday morning local time. Before launching the attack on the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Israel had ordered the hospital to be vacated.
