TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri denied all allegations during questioning by the Jakarta Police at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) on Thursday, November 17, 2023. Bahuri was grilled for five hours over the alleged extortion of former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo related to the corruption cases at the ministry being investigated by the KPK.
Limpo, who is a NasDem Party politician, was recently named a suspect for corruption at the Agriculture Ministry and detained.
“Our client (Bahuri) has complied with all the legal procedures requested by Jakarta Police investigators. Regarding the allegations of extortion, meetings, and gratification, our client said they were not true and were more like slander,” Bahuri's attorney, Ian Iskandar, told reporters after the probe.

Iskandar insisted that the police had no evidence to prove his client’s wrongdoing. The police also had no evidence when searching Bahuri’s house some time ago.
“I have said on October 26, that when our client's house was searched, there was no evidence [to support] any allegations of extortion,” he said.
Iskandar refused to reveal what questions investigators had posed to the KPK leader and confirmed that Bahuri had only been examined by Jakarta Police. He also said that his client had submitted the wealth report or LHKPN requested by the police.
Firli Bahuri arrived at the National Police HQ at around 9 a.m. and left at 1:45 p.m. local time, according to the Jakarta Police’s Director for Special Crimes Sr. Comr. Ade Safri. He said three KPK employees also underwent the same investigation.
“Three other KPK employees are still under investigation,” Ade told Tempo on Thursday, November 16.
