Top 5 Countries with Best Cyber Power, Including Australia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several countries are competing to improve their cyber security and strength to ward off cyber attacks from the outside world. The recent ransomware attack against Indonesia’s national data center also brings the cyber security question to light. So, which countries have the strongest cyber security in the world?

Quoted from the National Cyber Power Index 2022, here are the five countries that have the strongest cyber power in the world.

1. United States

The United States achieved a perfect score of 100 on the 2022 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) in 2022. The country is notable for its efforts towards cyber security and is one of the best in the world. Connectivity between government, business, and schools within the cyber ecosystem is one of the reasons for the United States’ perfect score.

2. China

The growing digitalization of sectors in China has been a driving force in the country's emergence as a cyber powerhouse. Although China is ranked lower overall than the United States, it is superior in terms of trade and security. China has tried to improve its economic status, including carrying out industrial espionage. The Chinese government is also known for instituting widespread online monitoring of its population.

3. Russia

Russia has a long history of cyber warfare and espionage. The country has a large and well-funded military and a large and sophisticated civilian cyber workforce.

4. United Kingdom

Since 2011, the UK has created national cyber security strategies to improve its defenses against cybercrime. The UK also encourages cooperation between public and private sectors as well as academic institutions to boost its cyber defenses. 

5. Australia

In recent years, Australia has invested heavily in boosting its cyber defenses and enhancing its offensive capabilities.
