TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Consul General in Hong Kong, Yul Edison, met with the President of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), Professor Paul Lam Kwan Sing on Friday, June 21, 2024.
"I see great potential for cooperation in the field of nursing education between Indonesia and HKMU," said Yul Edison, as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
HKMU has the largest nursing department in Hong Kong, with approximately 950 graduates per year. However, this number is insufficient to meet the demand for nurses in Hong Kong's healthcare system.
Professor Paul and Consul General Yul also discussed several potential collaborations in aviation education and airport management, community empowerment, and scholarships to attract more Indonesian students to Hong Kong. Indonesia itself has around 38 health polytechnics under the Ministry of Health. Professor Paul and the HKMU team welcomed the various cooperation potentials.
At the end of the meeting, Consul General Yul also had the opportunity to visit several facilities owned by the HKMU nursing faculty. These facilities include a virtual cadaver dissection table and the use of augmented reality in learning modules.
