TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri skipped his second summons for investigation by the Jakarta Metro Police today, Nov. 14. Jakarta Police Director for Special Crimes, Sr. Comr. Ade Safri Simanjuntak said Firli confirmed his absence in a letter sent by the KPK's Legal Bureau on Monday, Nov. 13.
“FB as the KPK chairman must comply with the second summons for clarification by the KPK’s Supervisory Council, which was held today at the KPK Merah Putih Building,” Ade said at Jakarta Police HQ on Tuesday.
Jakarta Police needs to probe Firli in connection with the alleged extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The police scheduled the second summons for 10 a.m. today.
However, Firli appeared at the KPK’s press conference this morning as a resource person regarding the sting operation in Sorong at the Merah Putih Building, South Jakarta.
The KPK’s Supervisory Council also did not examine Firli today as the board had other agendas. “So it might be scheduled for next week,” the council member Syamsuddin said on Monday, Nov. 13.
Ade has not yet confirmed when the next probe will take place, since the police will need to coordinate with the KPK's Legal Bureau.
In his confirmation letter, Firli Bahuri requested that his examination be held at the National Police Headquarters.
“The team of investigators will consolidate and consider the letter regarding the request for postponement and an examination at the National Police’s Bareskrim Building,” Ade explained.
In the case of alleged extortion by the KPK leaders, the police have grilled a total of 94 witnesses. Eight of them are experts, including four criminal law experts, one criminal procedural law expert, one micro-expression expert, one multimedia expert, and one digital forensics expert.
Until now, Jakarta Police have not named any suspects in the case. “Everything is in progress,” Ade claimed.
