TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MRT Jakarta announced that it will be extending its service hours during the upcoming Coldplay concert at the Gelora Bung Karno or GBK Stadium on November 15. To accommodate concertgoers, the train service which originally ends at 12:00 a.m. will be extended until 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.
“It is only for one day,” MRT Jakarta Secretary Ahmad Pratomo said in a written statement, on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Pratomo explained that on the day of the concert, the train will begin service at 5 a.m. and run until 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. During peak hours, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the train will have a five-minute headway. Meanwhile, outside of peak hours, it will have a longer headway of 10 minutes.
He also said that the change in operating hours was made in compliance with the Jakarta Transportation Agency Head's Decree No. e-0158 of 2023, which tasked MRT Jakarta to provide rail services in support of the concert of the British band in the city.
After the Coldplay concert, the train’s service hours will return to normal, which is from 5 a.m. until 12 a.m. every day with a five-minute headway during rush hours on weekdays and a 10-minute headway on weekends.
“MRT Jakarta continues to urge all passengers to maintain order and follow the instructions of officers at the station. Detailed information on the operating schedules can be found on MRT’s social media accounts (@mrtjkt and @mrtjktinfo),” Pratomo concluded.
