TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - High-intensity rain that fell in Bogor City on Saturday last week caused landslides on Tajur Main Road in Muarasari Village, South Bogor District. A cliff with a height of 25 meters and a width of 15 meters collapsed and hit a house in Cibalok.
The landslide also caused traffic jams and washed away trees into residents' houses, as well as disrupting the Cibalok main channel.
"It hit a house inhabited by a family of three. It also blocked part of the Cibalok main canal and it is feared it will overflow," Abdul Muhari, head of the Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication at the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), said in a written statement, Sunday, November 5.
Abdul confirmed that after an inspection by the Quick Reaction Team for Disaster Management (TRC-PB), it was confirmed that there were no fatalities due to the landslide. "The Bogor City BPBD TRC-PB Team and other related agencies have carried out a disaster assessment at the scene," he said.
Abdul said that the West Java PUPR Service and the central government will conduct joint mitigation efforts because the affected area is a national road.
