Extreme Weather Causes Power Outages in Bogor

1 November 2023 18:20 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaState-owned electricity PLN reported that extreme weather hit Bogor areas, disrupting at least 533 electricity substations on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 3:41 p.m. local time. Consequently, 109,020 users in Bogor City, West Bogor, and Leuwiliang were affected by the power outage following heavy rain and tornadoes.

Irwanto Wahyu Kusumo, the manager of PLN UP3 Bogor, said that as of 9 p.m., 80 percent of the electricity substations had returned to normal, providing power to 99,448 households.

“We are still working to normalize the rest 112 substations because many poles collapsed and were hit by large trees,” Irwanto said in a statement on Tuesday.

Since Tuesday’s disruption, the company has been working to maneuver the network to reduce the widespread impact. Officers were immediately dispatched to repair the power grid damaged by fallen trees and collapsed poles.

Susiana Mutia, the general manager of PLN West Java, said her side was still trying to restore the power grid. “We apologize for the inconvenience. We are working to normalize the situation so that electricity can be restored,” she said in a statement.

The public could check updated information on power conditions by accessing the service information center, and customer complaints could be made through the PLN 123 contact center or the New PLN Mobile application available on Google PlayStore or AppStore.
