1. Kominfo Ministry Asserts Jokowi's Speech in Chinese Produced by Deepfake

A video displaying President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo delivering a speech using fluent Chinese language went viral on social media. The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) confirmed that it was misleading content produced by artificial intelligence or AI.

“It’s misleading content,” the ministry’s Director General of Informatics Applications, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said in the Kominfo office, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, Oct. 26.

The ministry found similarities between the recent video with the caption 'Jokowi speaks Mandarin' and the video uploaded by the YouTube channel of the U.S.-Indonesia Society (USINDO) on November 13, 2015.

3. Public Enthusiasm for Whoosh May Wane After 3 Months, Says Observer

The Indonesian Transportation Society's (MTI) chairman of the railway division, Aditya Dwi Laksana, predicted that the current high number of passengers on the Whoosh high-speed train would not last long. He attributed this to the promotional fare and the introduction period of the bullet train.

Based on the latest data from PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China or KCIC, the number of Whoosh passengers reached 23,439 on the weekend, October 21-22. Specifically, there were 11,330 passengers on Saturday with an occupancy rate of 86 percent, and 12,109 passengers on Sunday with 92 percent occupancy. The average occupancy rate was 90 percent.
