TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri is currently being probed in the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency today for alleged extortion against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

The Special Crime Investigation Director at Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak confirmed today that Firli has arrived at the National Police Headquarters. Firli Bahuri arrived at around 9 a.m. local time and entered the HQ from the Rupatama Building. His arrival went unnoticed by present reporters.

Earlier, the Metro Jaya Police scheduled his probing for October 18, 2023. However, Firli Bahuri did not show up, citing an official business activity as the reason.

The Chairman of KPK proceeded to send a request letter for the investigators to conduct his probing at the National Police's Headquarters. Metro Jaya Police received the request last night at 9:40 p.m. local time.

"The point of the letter was to request for the probing against KPK Chairman FB as a witness on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency Office," Ade said in a written statement Monday evening.

The probing session is conducted by a joint unit from the Corruption Sub-directorate of the Metro Jaya Police and the Corruption Directorate of the National Police.

Police have officially started the investigation process for the alleged extortion case by the KPK Chairman on October 6. Metro Jaya Police have also probed a number of witnesses.
