Semarang's Ahmad Yani Airport Expands with Eight New Flight Routes

10 September 2024 17:23 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang City has expanded its connectivity with the addition of eight new flight routes. These routes, operated by Super Air Jet since Sunday, September 8, 2024, connect the city to various destinations across Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Lombok.

The newly introduced routes include flights to and from Balikpapan (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), Pekanbaru and Lombok (Wednesday and Sunday), Palembang (Monday and Wednesday), Medan (Monday and Friday), and Makassar (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday), Padang (Tuesday and Thursday), and Banjarmasin (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday).

“These eight new flight routes from and to Semarang are expected to further stimulate tourist visits and boost the tourism sector of Semarang City and Central Java Province,” stated Fajar Purwawidada, General Manager of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I's Ahmad Yani Airport Branch Office in Semarang.

Moreover, Fajar revealed that a total of 18 new flight routes are planned for Ahmad Yani Airport. These routes will be operated by Lion Air, Nam Air, and Garuda Indonesia.

“We, as the airport management, are actively coordinating with airlines to continually add popular routes and remain responsive to market demand,” he said.

Fajar expressed optimism that other airlines will soon follow suit, leading to a further expansion of flight routes and increased diversity in travel options.
