TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China/Indonesia-China High-speed Train Company (KCIC), Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, said his side would evaluate the normal fare of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, known as Whoosh, at the end of November.
“The express train is actually like some of PT KAI's commercial trains. For the fare, we can use dynamic pricing,” Dwiyana said when met at KCIC Halim Station in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 17.
He mentioned that airlines are using a dynamic pricing system. The fare for the fast train, he added, could also be determined based on conditions and situations.
“During the off-peak season, we reduce it. During the holiday season or on weekends, we raise it. That’s actually common,” he said.
However, Dwiyana stressed that his side will also determine the price ceiling, confirming that KCIC already has a plan to set the tariff for Whoosh. Regarding the issue of pricey fares, he opined that it is a matter of perception.
Dwiyana did not deny the information circulating on social media platforms and the WhatsApp messaging app that the tickets will be divided into three classes. According to reports, there will be first-class tickets at Rp600,000, business class tickets at Rp450,000, and premium economy class tickets at Rp300,000.
At present, KCIC is offering a promotional fare of Rp150,000 for the premium economy class until the end of November 2023.
