TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Director of Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that the official tariffs for the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Train Whoosh would be announced during the inauguration event on October 2.

Dwiyana said that the tariffs set were based on the consideration following the survey of willingness to pay. In conducting the survey, KCIC collaborated with the Center for Testing, Measurement, Training, Observation, and Engineering Services of the University of Indonesia, or POLAR UI.

“We're talking about survey results regarding willingness to pay. Yes, it’s at Rp350,000," said Dwiyana at the Hub Space X KAI Expo 2023 in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), on Friday, September 29, 2023.

According to him, the results of the willingness to pay survey were by existing standards. "This means that the number of samples and everything else must have met the survey rules," said Dwiyana.

To be more convincing, KCIC even asked POLAR UI to collaborate with universities in China that have a competency base in the field of high-speed trains.

"They carried out several tests on the methods and results including the interpretation of the data. Did they comply with the rules in the demand forecast study in China? [And] It turned out to be acceptable," added Dwiyana.

However, he did not reveal the exact amount of the high-speed rail tariff. "We’ll see on October 2. There’ll be a surprise," he said.

He also mentioned the possibility of a special tariff. "Well, about the tariffs from stakeholders, maybe there will be a social tariff in the beginning. So that people will be enthusiastic about using it. People will sit down and feel it, then they will believe the benefits of the fast train," said Dwiyana.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Train fare would likely be around Rp250,000-Rp300,000. The official tariffs will be officially announced on October 2 at the inauguration of the Whoosh high-speed train.
