TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After its success in Malaysia, Kenangan Coffee (Kopi Kenangan) is spreading its wings to Singapore. The Indonesian brand debuted its first Kenangan Coffee shop in a shopping center in Raffles City, Brash Basah Road, Singapore.
CEO Kopi Kenangan Edward Tirtanata said that opening the shop in Singapore is a milestone to leap into the international market. "Singapore is an ASEAN hub, thus, our showcase to the world. We are hoping to open more Kenangan Coffee shops not only in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore but around the globe," he said during the opening event on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Ever since its debut in Malaysia in October 2022, Kenangan Coffee already has 20 shops around the country while targeting to reach 40 to 45 by the end of the year.
The first Kenangan Coffee shop in Singapore is located at a premium location where a shopping center, offices, and interchange MRT intersect. To find the shop, enter Raffles City and go down one level. Kenangan Coffee is placed near the escalator.
According to Head of Property Kenangan Coffee Malaysia-Singapore C.K. Young, the shop is standing on what used to be a 950-meter square ATM area. The shop is able to contain 30 to 50 people for dine-in.
The menu offered at Kenangan Coffee in Malaysia and Singapore is similar to those in Indonesia, for example, the creamy latte, one of Kopi Kenangan's signature coffee. The coffee is popularly known as Kenangan Latte in Singapore and Malaysia. However, there is a difference in the taste profile. In Singapore, the coffee is less bitter with less addition of aren. The coffee bean was transported from Sidikalang, Dumpit, and Malabar.
