TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) begins operation of public free trial for Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) today, September 15, 2023. The trial was conducted after the Transportation Ministry issued a license on the previous day.
"The public will participate in this trial run until September 30, 2023," said Corporate Secretary PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa in a written statement today.
The initial phase of this trial will prioritize residents who live adjacent to the railway with the intention of appreciating their support for the development of KCJB.
The public free trial will have four departure schedules every day, a round trip from Halim Station to Tegalluar Station and back. Thus, the total trips taken in the public free trial amounted to eight fast rail trips. "During the trial run, there will be 2,200 available seats every day," Eva said.
KCIC is currently gathering data from 98 villages/sub-districts and 32 districts located along the railway. The residents registered through each district office and will take turns to participate in the rail trial with a specific departure procedure.
According to Eva, the amount of support KCJB received could be attributed to the public's enthusiasm for modern mass transportation. Moreover, Indonesia is the first Southeast Asian country to successfully develop a world-class fast rail technology.
Meanwhile, the commercial operation date for KCJB is set for October 1, 2023, as stated by the Transportation Ministry's Railways DG Risal Wasal.
