TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo said that Indonesia will send 415 athletes to take part in the 2023 Asian Games. The athletes will compete in 31 sports.

Dito announced the number of Indonesian contingents in a press conference at Youth and Sports Ministry's Media Center in Central Jakarta on Friday, September 1. On the same occasion, he said that 134 athletes would represent Indonesia in 12 sports at the 2023 Asian Paralympic Games.

In total, the Indonesian team for the 2023 Asian Games will consist of 415 athletes and 161 officials. For the 2023 Asian Para Games, 134 athletes, 56 coaches and 62 support staff will depart.

Dito is targeting Indonesia to make it to top 12 in upcoming Asian Games with eight to 12 gold medals. This target is lower than what was set for the 2018 Asian Games when Indonesia was the host.

The 2023 Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. However, football will kick off on Tuesday, September 19, prior to the opening ceremony.
