Jokowi Inspects Damaged Road in Binjai Post Africa Visit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inspected damaged roads in Binjai, North Sumatra on Friday, August 25, 2023, after arriving from his visit to Africa.
According to Jokowi, the central government will once again provide assistance to repair the damaged roads. Jokowi said the target for road repair finalization is next year.
"There are many roads that [the government] has started [repairing]. And the identification has finished, including this road [in Binjai]," said Jokowi in Brahrang market on Friday.
Previously, Jokowi explained that the central government has taken over several road repairs in several regions. The repair will be divided into two phases with each finance reaching Rp7 trillion.
He said that several of the road repairs have commenced while several others are waiting for a contract with developers.
"Half of the repair has started. But at the end of July, I hope everything is smooth sailing. Therefore, I have to check on the field, the governor asked me to see the field," Jokowi said.
