TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's badminton men's double players, Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto, managed to get into the Korea Open 2023 finals on Saturday, July 22. Fajar/Rian couple is the only chance for Indonesia to win.
In the competition held in Yeosu, South Korea, Fajar/Rian competed against the host; Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae. After an hour and 14 minutes, Indonesia won against South Korea with the scores 17-21, 21-16, 21-18.
In the first game, Fajar/Rian kept falling behind at the start. The two managed to equalize at 10-10 and took the lead. However, the world number one pair, once again, fell behind and lost 17-21.
Fajar / Rian rose in the second game and was finally able to handle the situation. They eventually led the game and ended it with a score of 21-16.
The third game was tight. Min/Seo led the game in the beginning but Fajar/Rian was able to equalize at 11-11, 13-13, and 14-14, and then led with a score of 15-14.
The Koreans were able to equalize to 15-15. Both teams raced until 17-17. Then Fajar/Rian led 19-17 and 20-18, and they finally defeated Min/Soe with a final score of 21-18.
In the finals of Korea Open 2023, Fajar/Rian will face Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty from India. They are India's third aces who defeated China's second aces Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang with the scores 21-15, 24-22.
The Korea Open 2023 final is to be held on Sunday, July 23.
