Indonesia Police Destroy 429Kg Crystal Meth and 22,000 Ecstasy Pills

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency destroyed 429,189.35 kilograms of methamphetamine or crystal meth and 22,932 ecstasy pills today, July 13, 2023, at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta.
“What we are going to destroy today is [illegal drugs] from cases revealed throughout June, before Bhayangkara Day (Police Anniversary) on July 1, 2023,” the Deputy Director for Drug Crimes of the National Police Sr. Comr. Jayadi said at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
He explained that the evidence resulted from uncovering drug cases in Riau (80 kilograms of crystal meth), Aceh (348 kilograms of crystal meth), Purwakarta (948.8 grams of crystal meth and 22,932 ecstasy pills), and Subang (77.7 grams of crystal meth).
“From the amount of evidence we seized, both methamphetamine and ecstasy, we managed to save 1,738,932 lives,” Jayadi claimed.
The drug destruction was carried out at 11:00 Jakarta time by using an incinerator. Eight suspects in the case took turns throwing evidence into the furnace.
Other than the Indonesian Police personnel, officials from Jakarta High Court and RSPAD were also present at the extermination.
