TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor City Resort Police have arrested 20 drug dealers. Some of them are recurring offenders who have just been released from Paledang Prison.
"Our officers also arrested MAA, a shabu [methamphetamine] dealer who had served time at Paledang Prison for 2.5 years," Bogor City Police Sr. Comr. Bismo Teguh Prakoso said at the station on Thursday, July 6.
Bismo said the suspect was arrested at his house in Cikaret with a packet of methamphetamine inside his trousers' pocket.
"When we checked his phone, we found dozens of saved points on his map marking the locations of drug storage along Jalan Cikaret, areas where he planned to sell the drugs to users," Bismo said.
The police also arrested ten people suspected of selling drugs and delivering synthetic tobacco. They usually operate in the downtown area of Bogor, especially in Ciomas. "We found 346 grams of synthetic tobacco packed in plastic packages ready for distribution," he said.
Bismo said the rampant distribution of drugs and the sale of liquor was one of the causes of increasing crime rates in Bogor City.
The 20 drug dealers are charged with Articles 112 and 114 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. They are facing at least five years of prison term.
