Pertamina Hands-over 10% PI of Rokan, Kampar Blocks to Riau Govt

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Kampar signed an agreement to hand over a 10-percent Participating Interest (PI) in management of the Rokan Block and Kampar Block's working areas (WK) to the Riau Provincial Government.
The 10-percent PI was handed over to PT Riau Petroleum Rokan (RPR) and PT Riau Petroleum Kampar (RPK), the regionally owned enterprises (BUMD) and regionally owned companies (PPD) appointed by the Riau Provincial Government.
PHR president director Chalid Said Salim, who is also the director of PHE Kampar, said that the rights to manage the oil and gas working areas will generate plenty of benefits to the province, including profits for the ROEs and increased regional income. A 10-percent participating interest for regionally-owned companies also allows for the transfer of knowledge and experience in managing oil and gas CAs.
"We believe that the transfer of management rights of the 10 percent PI will have a positive impact on improving the welfare of the people of Riau," Chalid said in an official statement as quoted on Wednesday, June 28.
"The 10-percentPI transfer agreement, among others, confirms that all oil and gas operation activities at the Rokan WK and Kampar WK will continue to be fully implemented by PHR and PHE Kampar as operators. Since the effective date of the transfer, PHR and PHE Kampar will bear the financing of the RPR obligations in advance. WK Rokan and RPK in WK Kampar," said the senior relations manager at PHR Regional Sumatra, Yudy Nugraha.
Throughout the validity of Rokan WK and Kampar WK production sharing contracts, he said, RPR and RPK are forbidden from selling, transferring, handing over or selling all or part of the 10 percent PI to any party. "Nor can they make corporate steps that cause a change in share ownership in RPR and RPK."
Meanwhile, Pertamina's VP for corporate communications Fadjar Djoko Santoso said that the Rokan Work Area is one of Indonesia's most valuable oil and gas blocks which play an important role in building national energy security and independence.
