TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or TMII cultural park presents a number of special attractions including traditional games especially for children during the school holiday period.
“During this holiday, TMII focuses more on children's activities and games. We will promote traditional games,” said TMII Director Claudia Ingkiriwang on Monday, June 19, 2023.
Claudia said the game activities are presented to provide a fun and educational experience for children. “Let's free children from playing with gadgets. We will give them fun physical activities and exploration,” she said.
A number of games can be played for free at the park, including egrang (bamboo stilts), dakon (congklak), gasing (spinning top), tapak gunung (engklek or hopscotch), rubber jumps, kites, marbles, and others. In addition to traditional games, there is an indoor children's bicycle arena, traditional dance shows, traditional puppets or wayang performances, and other entertainment.
Claudia also said children can enjoy a cozy and spacious green open area. “There are also a variety of delicious Indonesian culinary delights to meet the needs of visitors,” she added.
TMII also prepares special events in collaboration with museums. One of them is the transportation museum by providing an airplane simulator. “Children can experience what it's like to be a pilot. This will be guided by transportation museum officers. The event will open in July 2023,” she explained.
TMII is open every day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors are advised to use public transportation to reach the cultural park because electric vehicles are available to assist visitors going around the area. “Visitors can buy tickets online to avoid long lines,” Claudia concluded.
