TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno planned to invite Coldplay to visit five super-priority destinations when the British band is on tour in the country. As widely known, Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in Jakarta is slated to be held on November 15, 2023.
Since Coldplay has special attention to environmental sustainability, Sandiaga wanted to introduce them to tourist destinations based on sustainable tourism management in Indonesia. In particular, he mentioned Bali, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang.
“Especially Likupang as it is the least popular. If I can convince Coldplay to promote Likupang, it will be remarkable," said Sandiaga when met by Tempo at his office, in Central Jakarta, Monday evening, May 15, 2023.
Coldplay will perform at the Bung Karno Main (GBK) Stadium, Jakarta. The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry recorded that hotel reservations in the area on November 15, 2023, reached 98 percent, while in other areas at 40-50 percent.
Sandiaga Uno also targeted 10,000-12,000 foreigners to visit the country when the concert takes place. This figure accounts for 20 percent of the target of foreign tourist arrivals throughout 2023.
