TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) directorate of general crimes is currently investigating the case involving 20 Indonesians who were transported to Myanmar in a human trafficking scheme.
Bareskrim director Brigadier General Djuhandhani says his team is looking into the victim’s data from immigration up to the air carrier they flew on.
“We have coordinated with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s Class I Immigration Office and obtained the traffic data of the victims who passed through the airport,” said Djuhandhani to Tempo on May 8.
Police have also coordinated their efforts with the East Jakarta immigration office where the passports of the victims were issued.
"We have communicated with Air Asia requesting ticket data on behalf of Panji Apriyano and to Thai Airways for ticket data on behalf of Muhammad Afrilian," he explained.
The Bareskrim has mobilized four investigators to Yangon in Myanmar and to Bangkok on May 7 to look deeper into the human trafficking scheme.
