TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police has called for road users in the capital city to avoid passing the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue in Central Jakarta, beside the National Monument (Monas), as the area will host the rally held by the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) in protesting against the Healthcare Bill.
Metro Jaya’s traffic directorate Adj. Comm. Dermawan Karosekali called for road users to travel on other alternative routes.
Police have closed off sections of main public roads in Central Jakarta such as the West Medan Merdeka that leads to the State Palace and have rerouted the traffic through M.H. Thamrin.
The protest against the Healthcare Bill (RUU Kesehatan) was announced by the association’s Instagram account, which will see health workers such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health workers wearing all white in their rallies, which will also be joined by members of Indonesian Dentists Association, Indonesian National Nurses Association, Indonesian Pharmacists Association, and Indonesian Midwives Association.
