TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, or Jakarta BPBD, has prepared mitigation efforts to face the clean water scarcity as it is entering the dry season. Jakarta BPBD acting chief Isnawa Adji reminded the people to increase alert, especially in using clean water for daily needs.
"We call on the people of Jakarta to start conserving the use of water according to needs," he said in a written statement on Friday, April 28.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that a number of Indonesian regions, including Jakarta, has started to enter the first period of dry season. Jakarta BPBD, said Isnawa, continues to work with various parties to anticipate the impacts of dry season and make sure the availability of clean water for the residents of Jakarta.
The coordination is established with various elements in the city. They are Jakarta Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD), BUMD (regional-owned firms), PAM Jaya, the Water Resources Service (SDA), the Fire Management and Rescue Service, the Social Service, the Health Service, the Environment Service, the Bina Marga Service, and Satpol PP.
"Check periodically the condition of the pipe installation at home if it has a leak and set for plants watering or cleaning activities so that you can save water," he said.
He said that Jakarta BPBD also will ensure that supporting facilities and infrastructure, such as water tankers, to supply clean water are ready to flow when needed.
