9 Indonesians Progress to Badminton Asia Championships Quarter Finals

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Badminton Asia Championships 2023 (BAC 2023) series of matches has concluded its third day on Thursday, April 27. Nine out of twelve representatives from Indonesia managed to break into the quarter-finals.
The men's singles category is represented by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the world's number two player, who won a quarter-final ticket after defeating Kenta Nishimoto (Japan) in a straight-game duel ending with the scores 21-18, 21-17.
Meanwhile, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo had to concede a loss against India’s Prannoy Haseena Sunil Kumar, while Jonathan Christie had withdrawn due to injury.
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was also the sole Indonesian representative in the women’s singles. She advanced to the quarter-finals after winning against Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi with a score of 15-21, 21-13, 21-18.
Women's doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi successfully advanced to the BAC 2023 quarter-finals. They made a surprise by defeating South Korea’s Kim So-Yeong/Kong Hee-Yong with a score of 21-16, 21-16.
Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose were eliminated after they faced Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan (China).
In the men's doubles category, Indonesia made a perfect record by sending its three representatives to compete in the quarter-finals. They are Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
In the mixed doubles, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti also progressed further in the Badminton Asia Championships.
