TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Travel trends during the 2023 Eid holiday are predicted to increase. The internal research of online travel agency Traveloka showed that domestic travel will double during this season, based on customer enthusiasm.
"After the government lifted the people's mobility restriction (PPKM) policy at the end of last year, we see travel trends both domestic and international continuing to increase, especially during the Eid holiday," Traveloka marketing head Shirley Lesmana said on Tuesday, March 28.
Traveloka noted an increase in Eid travel plans, as reflected in the surge in domestic flight bookings, as well as purchases of trains and bus tickets and car rental reservations.
Traveloka's research also found that 48 percent of users are planning to go on a holiday during the 2023 Eid holiday season, both domestically and abroad. The top domestic destinations for this season are Bali, Surabaya, Medan, Padang and Yogyakarta. For international destinations, Traveloka users mostly planned to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Japan.
Traveloka's data matches that from a survey by the Transportation Ministry's Transportation Policy Agency, which concluded that the movement of people during the Eid 2023 holiday is expected to increase to 123.8 million people, a 14.2 percent increase from Eid 2022.
