International Tourist Visit Grows 150 Percent, Says Tourism Minister

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said in a hearing with House's Commission X legislators on Wednesday that there were 4.58 million international tourists who visited Indonesia as of November 2022. This statistic exceeds the government’s goal of 3.6 million tourist visits.
"Nearly 150 percent above the target," said Sandiaga Uno in a meeting with Commission X House members on January 25, 2023. "For domestic tourist visits, 633 million trips were achieved."
Sandiaga Uno said that the country's foreign exchange reached US$4.26 billion or 3 times the target set at US$1.71 billion which contributed 3.6 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Exports of creative economy products up until November last year reached US$24.8 billion from the 2022 target of US$25.33 billion. Meanwhile, the added value of the creative economy reached a target of Rp1,236 trillion. Moreover, the Minister said the tourism sector has absorbed 22.89 million workers in total.
