LSI Survey Reveals Public Still Expecting Social Aid albeit Jokowi Ends PPKM

23 January 2023 11:40 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) disclosed in its recent survey that although President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had ended the public mobility restrictions or PPKM, the public still hoped for social assistance.

The results of the survey regarding the President's performance, PPKM policy revocation, the availability of staples and fuel, and the latest political map were published via the pollster’s official website on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Based on the survey conducted from January 7 to 11, 2023, 47 percent of respondents knew that PPKM was officially over and the majority agreed with the President’s decision.

However, LSI noted that almost all respondents, or 82.1 percent, hoped that the government would continue to distribute social assistance to residents in need.

This was mainly because citizens were still striving to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The economy was considered to have not fully recovered yet. Besides, the government was reportedly forced to increase fuel prices due to the global situation.

LSI also concluded that national economic recovery might still not be achieved, but the public appreciated the efforts made by the government of President Jokowi.

This national survey involved 1221 respondents selected through random digit dialing (RDD), validation, and screening methods. LSI claimed its survey has a margin of error of 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
