TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) said that last year's state revenues from the upstream oil and gas sector reached US$18.19 billion or around Rp269 trillion. This is more than what they had targeted, which was US$9.95 billion.
"When compared with state revenue data since 2016, revenue in 2022 was the largest," SKK Migas' deputy for finance and commercialization Kurnia Chairi said in a press conference on the Task Force's performances and target held in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 18
According to Kurnia, the achievement was driven by a strong hike in global oil and gas prices, which is still occurring in early 2023. Other contributing factors include increased sales from spot LNG, FTG, and others, which stood at US$2.07 billion or around Rp30.6 trillion.
Furthermore, Kurnia said that SKK Migas also succeeded in carrying out cost recovery from US$10.9 billion in 2019 to US$7.9 billion in 2022.
Last year, oil lifting volume reached 612,000 barrels per day (bpd), short of the targeted 703,000 BOPD. Gas lifting also fell short below the target of 5,800 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), reaching only 5,347 mmscfd.
SKK Migas' deputy for exploitation Wahju Wibowo said that there were several factors causing oil and gas lifting shortfalls last year. One of them was the high number of unplanned shutdowns at refineries.
