Suicide Bomber in Bandung Police Station Identified as Ex-terror Convict

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has revealed that the suicide bomber at the Astanaanyar Police Station, Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, is a former terrorism convict.
“The results of fingerprints and facial recognition are identical, showing the identity of the perpetrator: Agus Sujatno,” said National Police Chief Sigit at the Astanaanyar Police Station on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
He explained that the bomber is found to be Agus Sujatno alias Abu Muslim, a resident of Cibangkong Village, Batu Nunggal District, Bandung. Agus had served four-year imprisonment at the Pasir Putih Nusambangan Class II A Penitentiary.
“He was arrested for the Cicendo bombing incident and was sentenced to 4 years in prison. In September or October 2021, he was released,” said Sigit.
Allegedly Affiliated with JAD
Sigit also revealed that based on the investigation, the bomber was allegedly affiliated with the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group in Bandung. The case investigation is still afoot.
“We will surely follow the activities [of the bomber]. That’s what we can explain [for now]. The perpetrator is affiliated with JAD Bandung or West Java and the team continues to explore the case,” he said.
Sigit also said that the bomber Agus Sujatno carried a number of pieces of paper rejecting the revision of the Criminal Code. “At the crime scene, we also found dozens of pieces of paper bearing the words protesting the recently passed Criminal Code,” he added.
The National Police have ensured that the situation and conditions around the location of the suicide bombing were now under control.
