British Citizen Found Dead in Tangerang Apartment

18 November 2022 12:02 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - A British national was found hanging from the balcony of an apartment in Bencongan Village, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang, on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Kelapa Dua Police Chief Commissioner Tedjo Asmoro said the foreigner was a woman identified as JAM, 59 years old.

“The body was found on the balcony floor wearing a bathrobe tied on a rope on Wednesday, November 16, at 16:30,” Tedjo said in a written statement received by Tempo, Friday, November 18, 2022.

He explained that BW, 58, who is also a British national found his wife's body already hanging from the balcony when he came home from work on Wednesday afternoon at 16:45 local time. “The husband put his wife down and tried to give her artificial respiration,” Tedjo added.

BW then went down to meet security officers in the apartment lobby and asked for an ambulance from Siloam Hospital to provide medical assistance. “However, the victim's husband confirmed that the victim had died.”

The Kelapa Dua Police’s Criminal Investigation Team immediately launched an investigation after receiving the report from the apartment security. “There were no signs of violence or abuse on the body. It is suspected that the victim committed suicide,” Tedjo said.

According to the victim's husband, the woman suffered from a mental disorder and took medication regularly. “The victim's husband said she wanted to return to the UK because she felt discomfort living in the apartment,” Tedjo said.
