TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Football fans all over the world are preparing for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The opening match between Ecuador and Qatar will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Fans who want to watch live at the stadium must have a Hayya Card.
According to the official website of FIFA, the Hayya Card is a personal document issued and required by everyone attending the Qatar 2022 World Cup matches. The card includes the ID of the spectators and a ticket for access to the stadium on a day of a match. One person could only hold one Hayya Card.
In addition to adults, Hayya Cards are also required for children or those under 18 years of age. Interestingly, a tweet uploaded from an official Twitter account @roadto2022en explained that visitors from other countries do not need to show a visa when entering Qatar as long as they have a Hayya Card. Hayya Cardholders can stay in Qatar until January 23, 2023.
"Every FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ticket holder, including day trip fans using the Match Day Shuttle service, needs to apply for a Hayya Card. The Hayya to Qatar app is available to download on iOS, Android, and Huawei," stated the @roadto2022en account on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Not only for visiting Qatar but Hayya Card holders are also allowed to visit member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a substitute for a visa. Saudi Arabia, Oman, and United Arab Emirates allow Hayya cardholders to use their card as a multiple-entry visa, as reported by Al-Jazeera. A Hayya card can be used as a visa for up to 60 days in Saudi Arabia and Oman, with entry into the country permitted 10 days before the beginning of the World Cup to cardholders visiting Saudi Arabia only. Meanwhile, United Arab Emirates allows Hayya cardholders to visit their countries for 90 days.
The application for Hayya Card can be done online through the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 website and mobile application. Applicants must follow the step-by-step instructions on the web or application for completion.
