TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) officially ended analog television broadcasts at 24:00 Jakarta time, Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The migration program to digital television dubbed analog switch-off (ASO) has taken effect in 222 areas, including Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek, and its implementation will be gradually expanded.
There will be 514 areas targeted for ASO. The program ceremony was attended by Kominfo Minister Johnny Gerard Plate and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD.
“This is a mandate of Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, which states that the terrestrial television migration shall be completed no later than November 2, 2022, or a few minutes ago,” said Mahfud MD through the Kominfo Ministry's YouTube broadcast, Thursday, November 3, 2022.
Analog TV broadcasts have been on the air for the last 60 years. In line with the migration, the government began to distribute 1,055,360 units of set-top box alias STB to poor households nationally.
For Jabodetabek, the distribution has reached 98 percent or 473,308 units of the 479,307 units target have been distributed. At least 60,791 poor households did not meet the requirement or were not eligible for the STB.
However, the ministry opened complaint posts for poor households who have not received the STB units as of Wednesday. The public can reach the call center 159 or the nearest post’s phone number or file an application via the ministry’s page Cekbantuanstb.kominfo.go.id.
For Greater Jakarta, Kominfo opened a Quick Response Command Post at 6 points that will open on November 2-4, 2022, at 08:00-19:00 WIB.
