The elected Kadin chairman Arsjad Rasjid gave a speech after being appointed as the elected Kadin General Chair for the 2021-2026 period in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Thursday 1 July 2021. Arsjad Rasjid officially became the General Chairperson of Kadin for the 2021-2026 period based on deliberation and consensus agreement at the VIII National Conference in Kendari, while Anindya Bakrie, who previously ran for general chairman, was elected as Chair of the Advisory Council. TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Arsjad Rasjid said that entrepreneurs need to take notice and be wary of the threat of a global economic slowdown and recession. Despite showing signs of recovery post-coronavirus, he added that future hurdles must be anticipated but hinted there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

"We must remain vigilant because of current serious challenges, such as the global economic slowdown which could potentially affect the pace of domestic economic growth in the short term," said Arsjad at the Bakrie Center Foundation (BCF) event on  Monday, October 31, 2022.

The aforementioned issues, Arsjad said, have the potential to hinder the achievement of sustainable development targets or SDGs. However, he asked entrepreneurs not to panic.

"It's our mindset that needs to be changed. Transforming challenges into opportunities," Arsjad insisted.

Business actors and the government should unite to face the existing challenges. Arsjad also encouraged the business world to seek maximum opportunities to boost economic growth in line with the trend of sustainable recovery.

The Bakrie Center Foundation (BCF) Forum held a series of national seminars in order to accelerate the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs). Arsjad Rasjid said that the perception of sustainability should be the main focus of development.
