TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko highlighted financial losses caused by hackers and scammers in the digital world.
“According to records, the losses from hackers and scammers hit approximately US$6 trillion. That's what was reported,” he said at the launching event of the MettaDC data center at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Thus, he asserted that Indonesia needs to strengthen its digital infrastructure. The goal is for the country to have cyber resilience, cyber sovereignty, and cyber security. “It is highly necessary.”
The presidential chief of staff admitted he had conveyed this to the Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G. Plate. Not only preparing data, but Indonesia must also have devices developed by the nation's children.
He further expressed confidence that soon all will be realized and Indonesia will fully have digital sovereignty. Moreover, PT MettaDC Teknologi (MettaDC) has started the measure by launching the MettaDC ID01 data center in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, West Java.
“This is a very good start, developed by Indonesian children and Indonesian investors, with a very beautiful design, at the international level. If you are all nationalist, then immediately relocate the data stored outside Indonesia,” said Moeldoko.
