TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former West Sumatra Police Chief Insp. Gen. Teddy Minahasa will be transferred from the custody of the National Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam) to the Jakarta Metro Police's custody center today, Monday, October 24, after Teddy undergoes interrogation.
The Indonesian Police Headquarters' PR chief, Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo, confirmed the transfer plan. He said Teddy would be picked up and taken to the Polda Metro Jaya detention center today.
"That's correct. Today, for the investigation process, the focus of the crime is specifically handled by the Jakarta Metro Police as they were the one who made the arrest," Dedi said at the Police Headquarters Building in South Jakarta, October 24.
With this, Dedi said, Teddy's will be transferred from the Propam's Special Custody to the drug criminal suspects' detainment center.
Teddy Minahasa's name has been attached to the case following a drug bust by the West Sumatra Regional Police in May 2022, when they confiscated 41.4 kilograms of shabu—the Indonesian street name for crystal methamphetamine—worth Rp62.1 billion.
Adj. Sr. Comr. Dody Prawiranegara, former chief of Bukittinggi Resort Police, allegedly swapped 5 kilograms of that shabu evidence with potassium alum.
According to Doddy's confession, he was ordered by Teddy to make the swap. At the time this allegedly took place, Teddy Minahasa was the Regional Police chief of West Sumatra.
