At Least 14,300 Runners Enliven Jakarta Marathon 2022

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After two years of absence due to the pandemic, the Jakarta Marathon 2022 is officially held again. Based on its website thejakartamarathon.com, there are at least 14,300 runners in the 2022 Jakarta Marathon that were officially released by Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia

The event, which is included in the list of the World Marathon Majors, was held on Sunday, October 16 2022. The starting and finishing lines are in the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Compex, Senayan area, Central Jakarta. The route used by the runners has been certified by World Athletic – AIMS Grade-A.

"Are you ready guys! Please be safe while running. Enjoy and respect other road users, and stay hydrated," shouted Sandiaga Uno before releasing the runners.

This marathon route crosses 49 roads. So that there were some traffic engineering done by the Transportation Agency around the area that the marathon participants passed.

The Jakarta Marathon has been running since 2013 and was initiated by President Joko Widodo during his tenure as the governor of Jakarta in 2012-2014.

For the 2022 edition, there are five categories of running numbers to be contested, namely Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21 km), 10K (10 km), 5K (5 km), and Maratoonz (1 km) for children aged 5 – 10 years.
